Wheel classification (made by ASTM International "American Society for Testing and Materials" - American Society for Testing and Materials), which defines their purpose and performance standards.
It is presented on a 5-point scale:
1 – Wheels designed for use on paved surfaces. Permissible loss of wheel adhesion to the ground for a short time (road, time trial and track wheels).
2 – Wheels described in “1” and additionally for use on unpaved, gravel roads. Loss of wheel contact with the ground and jumps up to 15 cm are permissible (gravel wheels, cyclocross wheels).
3 – Wheels described in “1” and “2” and additionally with jumps up to 61 cm, however, with low technical skills of the user there is a risk of damaging the wheel (MTB wheels).
4 – Wheels described in “1”, “2” and “3” and additionally with jumps up to 122cm with a speed limit of 40km/h (Enduro wheels).
5 – Wheels with no limit on the jump height or speed, however, if the user has low technical skills, there is a risk of damaging the wheel (downhill wheels, free ride).
Each set of Falcon wheels has an ASTM value assigned to it and this can be found in the wheel specification table.
