WHEEL GUIDE

If you have not found comprehensive advice regarding wheels here, please contact us and we will be happy to help you resolve your doubts.

  • What deep of rim should I choose for my road bike?

38 mm - perfect for mountains, hilly routes, on flat you will also feel the difference vs lower profiles

45mm-50mm - ideal for mixed trails, mountains for more advanced riders

60mm-68mm - perfect for flat and hilly terrain

80mm – ideal for flat terrain, dedicated to time trials

  • Why an asymmetric rim on gravel and MTB wheels?

The rim asymmetry in Falcon Gravel and MTB wheels is up to 3 mm and is virtually unnoticeable on the bike.

The asymmetric rim causes the spokes on the non-drive side to be tensioned with greater force than in symmetrical rims. While this does not play a major role in road wheels, this solution has major advantages in gravel and MTB wheels. In the field and when overcoming obstacles, the wheels are more stable and durable thanks to better equalization of the spoke tension on both sides of the wheel. When using a 24-spoke lacing, asymmetric gravel and MTB rims are a better solution than symmetrical ones.

  • Which hubs to choose? F101 or DT Swiss?

All DT Swiss and F101 hubs use the 36T ratchet system as standard.

The F101 hubs feature TPI brand bearings, which are also used in DT Swiss 350 and 240 exp hubs.

Both DT Swiss and F101 hubs are well sealed and their simple design ensures excellent performance and reliability.

Weight of a complete road/gravel hub set with Shimano 11s freehub

    F101 – 315 gr.

    DT Swiss 350 – 361 gr.

    DT Swiss 240 exp – 305 gr.

    DT Swiss 180 exp – 280 gr.

If you care about the price of the wheels, choose the F101 hub, if on a well-known world brand, choose the DT Swiss hub.

  • Tubeless system or tire with inner tube?

We definitely recommend tubeless tires for MTB and Gravel wheels. The ability to ride at lower pressures without worrying about a flat tire (so-called snake). In the field, it also means greater comfort and traction.

In road wheels, tubeless tires mean higher resistance to punctures, higher ride comfort thanks to lower pressure, lower rolling resistance, better grip in tight and fast corners. The disadvantages include the need to ensure that the air in the wheels is not completely empty if they are not used for a long time, because then it may be necessary to top up the sealant

If for some reason you are afraid of a tubeless system on your road, a tire with an inner tube is also a good solution. We recommend ultralight TPU inner tubes.

  • What pressure should you keep in your road tires?

Tire pressure is a very important factor influencing ride comfort and safety. For our road rims with an internal width of 21 mm, it is recommended to inflate no more than:

    Tubeless tires Tires with tubes
    25 mm – 6,35 bars 25 mm – 7,30 bars
    26 mm – 6,30 bars 26 mm – 7,25 bars
    28 mm – 6,25 bars 28 mm – 7,20 bars
    32 mm – 6,10 bars 32 mm – 7,10 bars
  • Sapim CX-RAY, CX-SPRINT or D-LIGHT spokes?

We only use Sapim cx-ray spokes to lace our road wheels.

These are flat (aero) spokes, and a road wheel should be as aerodynamic as possible.

In Gravel wheels you can make a choice. If you plan to use the wheels only in this bike, then you can safely decide on Sapim d-light spokes. They increase the weight of the wheel set by only 24 grams, and reduce the cost of buying the wheels by 250 PLN. However, if you plan to use these wheels in a road bike as well, then we recommend you choose Sapim cx-ray or Sapim cx-sprint spokes.

For MTB wheels, Sapim d-light spokes are a reasonable choice, but if you want to reduce weight, choosing Sapim cx-ray spokes will allow you to reduce it by 28 grams.
